Nestled just one mile from the west entrance of Letchworth State Park, Buried Barrel Hard Cider is more than a cidery—it’s a family story, a seasonal tradition, and a gathering place for locals and travelers alike.
Open weekends from May through October (Saturdays and Sundays, 12 PM to 5 PM), Buried Barrel offers small-batch hard cider made exclusively from apples grown on the Pankow family farm. Each pour is a reflection of generations of agricultural tradition—blending honest, hands-in-the-soil farming with a modern, creative twist.
Founded in 2020, Buried Barrel offers an experience that is both rooted in the past and welcoming to the present. The cidery’s name pays homage to the old-world methods of cider-making—when barrels were filled, sealed, and buried until nature said they were ready. Today, that legacy lives on in every glass.
Visitors are invited to slow down, take in the scenic views, and enjoy not just the cider, but the atmosphere. With a rotating lineup of food trucks, special events like new cider releases, tap-talks, guided hikes, and live music, there’s always something new happening at the cidery. It's the kind of place where conversations start easily and strangers quickly become friends.
From the moment you arrive, you're welcomed like part of the family. One fall visitor from Sri Lanka, also in the tourism industry, spent hours sharing stories with the owners—and that friendship continues to this day. Moments like that happen often here. Whether it’s a guest reminiscing about making cider with their grandfather, or first-time visitors becoming familiar faces, Buried Barrel is a place that feels like home.
Among the standout favorites are the Concord Grape and Black Currant ciders—bold, fruity, and unforgettable. But ask anyone who’s been here, and they’ll tell you it’s not just the drinks that make the experience—it’s their warm hospitality, the thoughtful events, the sense of belonging, and the way the place seems to wrap around you like an old quilt.
So whether you're stopping in after a hike at Letchworth, planning a weekend outing with friends, or simply looking to experience something local, authentic, and truly special—Buried Barrel Hard Cider is ready to welcome you.
