On June 11, 2026 around 12:20pm, the Union Pacific's famed Big Boy No. 4014, the world's largest operating steam locomotive, will train will pass over the Genesee Arch Bridge in Letchworth State Park.
Big Boy is traveling the East Coast this summer for the first time as part of a historic coast-to-coast tour to celebrate America's 250th anniversary. The tour includes a Fourth of July celebration in Philadelphia, major display events in eight cities and more than 50 whistle-stops in 10 states, including stops for the first time in Indiana, Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania.

If you visit Letchworth State Park, please note:
- The train will not stop for pictures in the park - but you are welcome to watch it pass through for the first time EVER!
- Do not trespass on tracks, on the bridge, or anywhere that isn't open to the public
- Do not cross over walls, access the gorge, enter the river or anywhere that isn't open to the public
- Be safe, respect off limit areas, and adhere to all park rules
- Letchworth State Park is a carry in, carry out park
- There is a fee of $10 per car entering the park (from 5/9/25 - 10/19/25: 9 am - 5 pm, daily)
Download the NYS Parks Explorer App from your app store before visiting the park. Favorite Letchworth State Park in the app to receive updates and also be sure to download the interactive trail map. The map will use your phone's GPS to tell you where you are within Letchworth State Park. This is a great way to keep up to date on all things Letchworth!
If you wish to get a picture of the train stopped, it will be stopping in Silver Springs, NY on June 11, 2026 from 11:45am until 12noon at their North Main Street Crossing.
