Stone Tool Craftsman & Artisan Show
August 28–30, 2026
Highbanks Recreation Area | Letchworth State Park
Step back in time during the 36th Annual Gathering of the Genesee Valley Flintknappers at Letchworth State Park. This unique three-day event celebrates the ancient art of flintknapping, showcasing skilled craftsmen as they demonstrate how stone tools and arrowheads are created using traditional techniques. Visitors can watch live demonstrations, browse handcrafted stone tools and artwork, shop for knapping supplies, and meet artisans from across the region.
In addition to flintknapping, the weekend features living history encampments where reenactors bring the Fur Trade and Civil War eras to life. Explore authentic camps, interact with historical interpreters, and browse period trade blankets featuring handcrafted goods.
The event also hosts several exciting atlatl competitions, including the Eastern Seaboard Atlatl Competition, an Animal Silhouette Field Course, and the Ancient Bison Mass Atlatl Hunt on Saturday afternoon. An awards ceremony recognizing participants takes place Sunday at 11 a.m.
